hello folks just found this forum - can anyone help?

I'm rebuilding a 1995 or thereabouts RX125. It has the simplest electrics that you could imagine being not road legal, but there's no spark. According to the Rotax 123 engine manual the coil has failed, stator etc OK

the coil is the blue SEM 101 888 00.

Question is where can i get one without paying the earth, or can I substitiute one from another model?

thanks

Hi

Virtually the same ignition system in all the 125 Aprilias from about 1988 to the late 1990s. 2 types of coil, and I think the earlier ignitions work with both coils. They regularly appear on Ebay.

New speak to Peter Knight on 0176 141 4106. Think they are around £125.

All the best

Keith

thanks for the quick reply - £125!!!! I'll be watching ebay then, or might try fitting a Honda C90 system as described on this link.

I guess it's worth a try

Hi

One went on Ebay a few days ago for about £7. I was watching it to get as a spare but forgot.

Bit of a check shows you have the later type coil, so you need another blue coil with the "101 888 00" numbering (the older ones were 101 815 ** and will not work on your bike). The very early AF1 used a similar ignition system but had no advance / retard and the coils on these are black. Do not use one of these.

All the best

Keith
