what noise will the engine make if theirs a lack of oil flowing through it? Just to satisfy my curioisity really more than anything. I was watching american chopper last night and they had an oil starvation and I think he said something like he heard a slap? Would that be right? I wasnt really listening just had it on in the background. The oil they used on the engine was too thick and too cold thats why the oil wasnt getting through the engine propperly (they actually melted the piston, bent all the valves and cracked the head from it). I didnt hear the noise that vinny heard (seems to know his stuff) that the engine made?

Dunno, you should ask sparks Laughing

I'd have thought allot of scrapeing, by the time you heared it the engine would be fooked.. rapid heating and then sudden grindy stop would be what i'd expect..

/sort of on topic.. when you change your filter on the cx make sure to fit the spring and washers all the propper way arround, you get to hear the noise yourself! Exclamation

Rattling and tapping from the valvetrain when it doesn't get enough oil. Possible squeaking/ grinding from bearings (ball or otherwise) if they haven't enough oil. The main bearings will self-destruct in pretty short order without enough oil, and the piston will sieze without any sound other than the engine stopping.
