As anyone else noticed a new clause on your insurance

Terrorism Exclusion
Section1 of your insurance does not cover the following.
Any Liability, loss or damage arising directly or indirectly from acts of terrorism, as defined in the UK terrorism Act 2000, execpt where we need to provide the minimum insurance required by the road traffic act.

What the hell does that lot mean? Does it not seem over the top! If you don`t have an accident/incident it a very set manner these guys will not pay out.

The things about accidents /incidents are that they rarley happen in a set manner!

btw this is from Equity Red Star bike insurance through Hondas insurance deal.

That has been a clause of one sort or another in pretty much every insurance policy I have ever seen.

They exclude war, terrorism, nuclear accidents and (some of the time) acts of god.

Yup.

That one helped me out when my bike was blown over. Huge gust of wind flew through the car park and blew over about 5 bikes, as mine was at the end the guy tried to blame me for the damage. I told him that it would have blown over what ever bike was at the front, so i was not at fault.

He continued though, tried to go through the boss (it was private land), he told him where to go, so he tried insurance... who also told him where to go, he didnt even get to the point where he would have to explain it was on private land.

I Like that bit of the clause Thumbs Up

TBH Though, in a nuclear accident, would claiming money for damaged plastics REALY be your main worry?

You might have to claim for a third handlebar or something.

The terrorism clause is newish ie last year, to prevent insurers going bankrupt when incidents like 9/11 occur as happened to several large american insurers.

If a terrorist car bomb detonates next to your bike then you wont get anything for your bike Sad

Nah. They have had a terrorism exemption clause for many years years. Ever since the IRA were on the go.

It isn't just Al Quieda who plant bombs, and the IRA did a much better job of it with much less sophisticated devices. Hell, anyone remember when they mortared Downing Street with homemade (drainpipe) mortars through the roof of a transit van?
