Have I just given bikers a bad name?

Approaching some traffic lights this morning. Its 2 lanes, in the left hand lane, a double decker bus has stopped right across the pedestrian crossing, which is now blocked. To the right of the bus, an Audi has stopped level with the bus (crossing is blocked anyway, so makes no real difference). To the right of the Audi, theres enough room between the car and the pedestrian island for bikes to filter through, which every biker does. So I pull up level with his door.

Then this 40-something yr old woman and her child cross the road in front of us, on their mountain bikes. They reach the island in the middle, but instead of just crossing the other side of the road, the women decides she wants to get past me and cross the island that way. Now theres more than enough room for people to pass, but not enough room for a mountain bike.

The woman starts losing her rag, asking me to move my bike. I start wheeling it backwards but theres simply not a wide enough enough gap. Then out comes the classic random line "She's only a bloody child!".... WTF? Whats that gotta go with anything? Then she starts trying to force her way through, pushing her mountain bike into my bike, I was fuming. Stupid bitch.

This could have been avoided if she carried on crossing the road as she was before. The crossing was blocked way before I was even at the lights. Not saying im blameless, but for her to lose her rag and start pushing her bike into mine.... I mean, come on love, have a word with yourself!

Well yes and no , bikers will probably take your side , while all the women this woman talks to will take her side , not being able to hear the other side of the story.

But then again I recall the MTB having something to say on these things , from a harshpoint of view , but then again MTBs rants are always harsh

Cyclists need to fuck off. I HATE THEM SO MUCH.

They take up so much space go about 2 mph and looks gay. Who cares if they stop pollution.

I always come across them at places such as orquard junctions, roundabouts, and corners.

One day i will probably hit one by accident and just drive off.

l hate people like that, supermarkets are pretty bad for dick head pushing trolleys into cars/bikes when there trying to move through the rows, no consdieration at all.

I wouldn't mind cyclists if they obeyed the rules of the road. Red light? Cycle straight through. Box Junction? Sit in the middle. Cycle path? Ride in the road, three feet away.

There's a narrow bit of road outside my work which has a cycle path running the full length of it, alongside. The bloody cyclists still ride in the feckin road, one or two even cycle across a lane to go over the flyover, suicidal idiots.

There's a cracking advert somewhere for a VW where a cyclists keeps leaning on the bonnet at traffic lights until the car driver does something about it, someone find it will they so I can laugh at a cyclist again (I would but I'm at work).

Cyclists are not pedestrians.

They should be using a road or a junction, NOT crossing from one pavement to another.

This is stated clearly in the highway code.

If they want to be pedestrians, they should have bloody gotten off of their namby pamby tree hugging enviro-deathtraps.

I dont quite understand what you are saying, but were you partially blocking the pedestrin crossing, along with the car?

If so you and the car driver should not have blocked this, it's just polite. She didnt have any right to hit your bike admittedly.

I dont usually bother with having a go at car drivers who piss me off in traffic. If I go closely my metal pedals leave a nice mark all the way up the side of their cars though.

She had a child with her so I have no problem with her cycling along the pavement, it's hardly as though she will be going fast. Unlike me who will pass you at 15mph.

if some one started ramming their push bike into my bike, i would rev my engine and blare the horn at them just to annoy them, or get off my bike and pick up their bike and launch it across the road, no one has the right to damage MY bike. it might only be a nifty fifty, but its MY nifty fifty

i have people who think they can av a go at anyone and think nothing is going to happen, too manny people are big headed.
