Can some one tell me what exactly is a power band?,and were is it found..Can i buy 1?

I usually associate power bounds with 2 stroke engines - for when they 'come on song' - i.e. get into their 'band' of 'power' - which is usually a couple of hundred rpm up the top end of the tacho.

Still to feel it on a stroker bigger than a 125 though.

110mph is achievable on a scooter, as long as it's something like the 650 Burgman.

The powerband is the thing that causes you to shat your pants whenyou ride a large 2 stroke such as an RD500.

First time i had a go i couldnt understand what all the fuss was about untill i hit 60mph and the bike tried to backflip! Laughing

my mate fitted powerbands to all 12 gears on his minimoto, he said it did 150mph in 2nd gear Laughing

The powerband is the REV range where the engine delivers its main power Mainly on 2strokes you will find this due to the nature of the engine... you can move the powerband about a bit through the revrange by using different Air Filters, Exhausts n such but you cant just bolt another one on m8...

Think of it as the 'sweet spot' in the rev range where the scenery blurs.

You wont really understand what it means until you have ridden a highly tuned 2-stroke, preferrably 250cc or larger. It is the point where the bike squats down in an attempt to shorten its own wheelbase then kicks the front wheel up in the air and both the rider and the exhaust start screaming.

Honestly to save n00b confusion which is perfectly understandable, they should change the name from 'powerband' to something else, as it could be a part of the bike with that name. Razz

I believe Busters are doing a special on powerbands at the moment, only for certain bikes though, must be getting rid of excess stock. I believe you can choose from 20% off, or a pair of chicken strips thrown in free.

Well i got a 50cc..With a wrong exhaust,so if i fit the right exhaust will that effect the power band?im sure i can fell the powerband when i ride but not powerfull enough!

all diff tuning parts put on will change the charterestics of the bike but as said b4 the powerband isnt a buy-able thing/part,etc its just when your going thro the revs(building up speed) theres a point were the bike is the best(most powerful-ist) that is classed as the "POWERBAND"

On anything smaller than a 250 the powerband is the point of the rev range when the engine stops feeling like its got asthma and actually moves you in a forward direction Laughing

I REALLY want a quick 2 stroke, but the british weather and petrol prices have conspired against me Crying or Very sad

its the band within the rev range that gives the best power,
hence power band

usually high revs but not red line it actually drops
my peak hp is at 9.800 rpm
my peak torque is at 8.200 rpm
so anywhere between 7.500 and 10.500 is my power band
or there abouts
