I bought a Honda SFX 50cc last Friday and think it may be running lean, it was only doing about 15MPG, yes 15MPG but now it seems like it is doing about 30-40 MPG, which to me is still to low for a 50cc.

Anyway I dont know when it was last serviced and thought about having it done. I was told by the Honda dealer it would be 50 GBP. I was so shocked at the price (been the rate they charge 37.50 + VAT per hour) and then parts will be on top if nessercery and more than likely. I would have thought a service would be cheaper than a MOT (which is 23.50 for my bike) and would consider a MOT more important than a service. It passed it's MOT in Nov 2005.

I wouldnt have thought running a 50cc could be so expensive, well, in my case Sad

£50 quid for Honda service? Fuck me, I'll have 10.

Paid £55 for a safety check after I crashed my CG.

MOTs and services are two completely different beasts. All an MOT test does is check the condition of the bike is up to standard. They do not replace or repair anything, and the price is set by the Ministry of Transport (hence MOT). A basic service should replace all servicable or consumable items as advised in a manufacturers service schedule i.e filters spark plug. In addition they will check the condition of things like brakes and tyres etc, and advise you if they need replacing (this will cost extra). Fifty quid is not a bad price (We charge 65 quid to service a disc cutter at work!) Thumbs Up
