I have spent hours reading through the forum trying to find out which jets i should use for my NSR, but everyone seem to be saying something different.

So my NSR is a French import 2001 NSR Supersprint, and I have fitted a Gianelli Exhaust and removed the carb/inlet restrictor. I have heard that you need to change 3 different jets, is this true? If it is, could someone tell me the names and sizes of the different jets that need to be replaced??

Thanks Wink

Hi

3 "jets" you need to play with are the main jet (which you substitute with a larger one), the needle jet (which is available with lots of different profiles, but which you normally can just move the locating clip to richen / lean the mixture a touch) and the idle mixture screw / idle air screw (which you can just turn to adjust it).

Probably just go up 1~2 sizes on the main jet and see how that goes, and lift the needle up slightly (move the clip on the needle down to the next notch, towards the point).

All the best

Keith

Ok, that helps a lot, thanks! I'm off to buy the 138 main jet now, and I will check how that works. But what does 138-42-65 mean then?

Thanks

Not sure what size is standard (thought it was about a 125). The jets are pretty cheap so I would buy a selection and have a play. Running too rich is fairly safe but will increase fuel consumption and foul plugs more quickly, but running lean can cause seizures or holed pistons. Therefore start rich and work down.

Not a clue!

Hi

Normally the restriction is just dropping the power valve, and no rejetting is needed. However if it is a cat exhaust that has been gutted then it might need some playing with.

It is basically the same carb as the NSR, Dellorto PHBH28, but there are differences.

Looking at my RS manual it mentions a 115 main jet for the catalised version. Older AF1 manual uses basically the same engine with a 125 main jet, but the needle on a leaner setting. I would go for a 120 main jet and have a play with the needle.

All the best
