How old is your son?
My brother has had a PW50 and a Honda Champ 80 in his moto-x time.
Both of which were bloody fun bikes
I rode both and watched him on both.
The PW50:
Not overly fast at all realy, fully automatic (no gears etc), reliable and easy to fix, but seriously small bikes! Good for thrashing around a small back garden or something, no use on a decent sized track.
Champ 80 (Same as PW80 i think):
Pretty damn quick, its got a semi auto clutch/gearbox setup so you simply hit the gears up or down as you wish. I managed to get it to wheely me (18 year old) in 1st 2nd 3rd gear. Top speed i dont know, but itll keep up with the small KTM strokers if kept in the power. Obviously being a 4 stroke its a bit easier to ride for a new rider, but you dont have that extreme acceleration the KTM strokers will have. But you do have that low down torque that is quite nice.
Those KTM Strokers:
Dont know a great deal technically about them, but they are 50cc 2stroke bikes, they are damn quick, insanely quick and fast for the small little kids that seem to ride them. If you have the money and your son is a champion in the making, then that might be the bike for you, just bear in mind repair and rebuild costs
Depends how old / how good your son is mate
But my bet would be the PW80 / Champ 80 if he is around the 8-10/11 age group? ____________________ CBT Aug '03 ... Gilera GSM 50 ... Honda NSR 125 Aug '04 ...

Peewees are great fun even for adults. The PW80 should do just about everything although the choice between a 50 and an 80 is more down to the size of the kid. I've seen kids absolutely flying on them, they even have a model specific race series. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen.
