Well the recent snow rain and frost has taken its toll on my thundercat and the chain is showing signs of rusting all over

its at the end of its life anyway so i've ordered myself a new chain and sprocket set and a 3 in 1 chain breaker/joiner

anyone got any advice or tips on how to go about fitting the new chain?

cheers

Hi

Is it the motrax 3 in 1 chain breaker?

With that kit, I found it's a complete bastard to do and takes a good while with a lot of brute force to get anywhere. Don't just rivet it in continously, do it a little bit, then release, applying more force gradually.

Thats what I was told anyway and it worked for me. Not a job I liked doing though I have to say. And took ages.

I didn't have to remove the old chain (because it removed itself from my bike at about 80mph) but if I were you, I'd jsut hacksaw the old one off (or with some sort of grinder) and take the front sprocket cover off. Lead the new chain around with your fingers and have the two ends of the chain down the bottom, between front and rear sprocket. Then attach it that way.

Of course, this is just from my experience (which is very limited) so am grateful to hear anymore advice as I thikn I'll do the VTR's soon.
