Scarborough's Oliver's Mount circuit looks forward to entertaining a top entry of the best motorcycle road circuit racing specialists in the world for their spring national meeting on Bank Holiday Monday, May 1.
This meeting has special significance for local fans as it has the title of the Ian Watson Memorial meeting in memory of the great Boosbeck racer.
A special function has been organised at Liverton Village Hall, which is on the B1366 signposted from the Guisborough to Whitby moor road.
The aim is to raise finance for the Ian Watson Trophy, which is presented annually to the privateer rider who performs with the most merit in the Scarborough event. Ian Watson's widow, Julie, and children, Emma and Mandy, select the winner.
With the trophy go the proceeds of the entire fundraising night.
The night, on Saturday, April 22, promises fun and a variety of events including an auction of road racing memorabilia and products.
Admission is by ticket at £5 per head, including a pie and peas supper.
Tickets are available from Denise Nesbitt (hondamrs)
The action kicks off at 8pm going on until midnight.
Along with the Ian Watson Memorial event, on race day itself the organisers have a ride-in all the way to the Oliver's Mount circuit from Birk Brow, beginning at 11am.
Riders will carry a green ribbon to represent the colour of Ian's favourite Kawasaki race machines. |
