okay im an idiot i know.

i was out about 30 mins ago coming round a bend in a 40 zone with two other lads, when we saw a cop car on a blind corner, lights on, pulled a car over, we all broke, i didnt brake in time (skidded a little) and went round the police car and stopped.
Ive been given a producer with "offence" ticked, he didnt caution me, all he said was " you may or may not get somthing in the post"
checked the bikes and told us to take it easy.

he didnt bust us speeding (he was in a traffic car with rear facing camera) but they were both out of the car tending to the car infront. how do they work? and he didnt say anything, or tell me that we were going to get done.

we all got producers with "offence" written on them.

i have 3 points for speeding Sad

i know its my own fault if i do, and im stupid but no ones perfect.

many thanks if you can give me some advice.

Steve.

It's only my opinion but i would be inclined to take the producer in to the local cop shop and ask them what it's about, as far as i am aware they should give you a formal caution etc, anything you say and all that so you might be in the clear as long as your documents are ok.

It's just a producer from what I can see... take all your documents in to the agreed police station (should be written on the producer you received) and it should be the last you hear of it.

I don't see what exactly you did wrong in the first place, you said you were in a 40 zone but how fast were you doing as you went past the cops? Why did they stop you?

On a producer you have to tick a reason (though no actual reason is required to stop a vehicle). Choices are Stop Check, Accident, Offence, etc. I'm sure someone somewhere collates the stats.

If all docs are in order, then I wouldn't worry.

out of the three bikes, i was the only one to skid to a hault, but we all got "offence" ticked exactly the same.

Im abit worried, would it be worth asking at the station ,or shud ui just leave it?

Traveling too fast for the conditions(or without due care). It may be a 40 zone but going around a corner presuming nothing is there without safe time to stop is a no, no.

If all your documents are in order you won't hear anything else. Wink

Just produce your documents and you will be fine!

The copper has probably done it to teach you a lesson, not because of skidding, but because he reckons you should have seen him in time especialy if he has his flashers on.
Speed limits are the max allowed not neccarily the speed you should be doing.

As above all he has done is put the fear of God into you, he has made you think about what you have done. I doubt he could be arsed to make a report on your riding as he was busy with something more important. Wink

No, no. You all have it wrong. In the many discussions we've had on here, I have been assured by several police officers that they don't use producers just to give someone a hard time or cause them inconvenience.

The policeman is entitled to ask you to show him your documents, that's the only reason he gave you the producer. Thinking

Doesn't sound like you were given a verbal NIP for driving without due care and attention anyway (which is what they would most likely have done you for) so that should be the last you hear about it. I never heard of anyone being notified about a potential DCA charge through the post.

Well just got a nip in the post, well i think thats what it is, its a word document saying that im going to be Prosicuted on 3! counts..

theve gone mental, there doing me for speed?? dangerous driving and due care ?! wtf all i did was lock the rear wheel!

it does say that "this letter does not mean you will be prosicuted" at the bottom?

i really dont understand, it also says that somthing has to be sent within 14 days after the incident.

im going to get raped by the looks of it, and so are the other lads that didnt lock the rear wheel.

Also ive never been read my rights, were do i stand?

any advice on what to do would be great, Steve.

Steve.

Professional legal advice is the way forwards. Dangerous driving is a criminal offence, you could be jailed. I don't know but my gut feeling is that they have failed to follow PACE properly, sure you should have been cautioned when you were stopped and given the oppertunity to give a statement.

I'm no legal expert though so ask the advice of one, get it nipped in the bud before it goes too far.

Meantime, write yourself a DETAILED report of everything that was said and done, road and weather conditions the lot. The wheels of justice turn slowly and you may have forgotten a critical detail by the time they decide to do anything about it.

PACE

EDIT: It also occurrs to me from your description that they have no corroborating evidence to show what speed you were doing. Even if they had a rear facing camera, you were riding in a group so who was the reading of?

As above! Don't hang around.

What are the other riders being done for?

Looks like he may have had a look at the footage from the camera in the car (they are recording all the time) and found something to incriminate you. He must have been a bit pissed off!

Steve,

Get thee to the Pepipoo site for advice, as by the sound of it, you've got a good case, but you'll need to get your wording, etc, just right.
