well, i posted before about my bike sounding awefull

the last few days it had stopped idling, so i thought nothing off it and went to tighten up the throttle cable, i started the bike and there was this tapping noise, you can hear it very clear at low revvs, but at high revvs it stops, when the revvs are dieing down again it gets quite loud.

I went straight to my local bike mechanic, where i get everything done on my bike, he spent a few minutes just listening to the rattle, he asked if i'd been checking oil levels and what not, i then told him it had recently stopped idling, first thing he said was "piston slap" which i understand means the barrel is worn and the piston can move side-to-side causing the tapping/knocking noise. He also said it could be starting so ciese (sorry cant spell that )

has anyone had similar noises and maybe its something simple?

regards, Jamie

*Bump* someone help lol, i dont want to breakdown, and my bike is only form of transport to work and back.

I was speaking to a mate, and he said his bike has stopped idling too, alough hes convinced this is because of the moisture in the air atthis time of year

Mine doesn't stop idling, I doubt that has anything to do with the piston slapping.

The worst scenario for the piston slapping is the piston getting weak and eventually cracking. It may also break apart.
