wonder if any of you learned people could offer some advice.i've got a vstar 1100 classic which is 4 months old & done 1400 miles.the laquer on my alloys is already peeling off.the bike is well maintained using the right products & when washed is meticlously dried.it has been in use throughout winter but has always been rinsed down & dried after riding.is there any chance i could claim on the warranty

There's no harm in trying, 4 months and 1400 miles is taking the piss for those problems. Start off with the Yam dealer so they will hopefully forward a warranty claim. If you get fobbed off go to Yamaha themselves, they are a bit better customer service wise than Suzuki. If you get no joy then it's time for trading standards advice.
Just a thought,is it a UK bike?, thought the UK ones were XVS Dragstars, if it's an import you might be struggling, though things like Trading Standards and "fit for purpose " etc still apply.

Hi, as Bezzer said, its worth a try, just go in and ask. Make the wheels look as bad as possible before you go though Thumbs Up Wink

thanx chaps.been in touch with me dealer & he basically said "normal wear & tear mate what with the roads been like they are & that" so i kicked off big style told him to go fu*k hisself said i was gonna get in touch with yamaha & trading standards.will keep ye informed as to what happens

Do get in touch with trading standards.

When the fazer first came out there were problems with the engines furring up in double quick time and Yamaha were forced to do a recall after averse publicity.

I know of a Buell owner who's sueing there dealer as the paint is lifting everywhere due to corrosion that started within 3 months of buying the bike. The dealer said it was his own fault for using it in winter, he bought it in December.

The paint on my YZF750 wheels was like that. I think they use water colours or something!!!. mine was made worse by having a few tyre changes, then being kept in a yard where a dog kept pissing on the back wheel made it 10 times worse!

as you can see from me photo mine aren't that bad,bud still bad enough.me dealer got in touch over the weekend and asked if i could supply photos of them.he's gonna get in touch monday.this is after threatening them with trading standards

That looks like pitting which should never happen on a bike of that age unless you live on a seafront.
