Does this seem wrong somehow to anyone else? I know a car potentially has the ability to decrease the distance at higher speeds but the gap between the bike and the car was huge no way could that catch up so quickly:

I reckon that plane wouldn't even have caught up with the R1 up until it was off the ground or approaching lift.

Does it seem right to anyone else?

It seems very plausible to me.

The R1 probably tops out at about 160mph, the car if tuned properly maybe tops at 180-190mph and would have had a power boost due to a turbo maybe?

And the plane i think is doing something like 200mph within a few seconds in order to take off.

The thing i am concerned about is the back draft from the planes jet engines would have nocked the car and bike way off course.

Agreed, it looked like the bike slowed way down after the jet passed him.

The R1 obviouslly eventually broke, but as stated the R1 would have topped out at 160mph or thereabouts, whereas the car (eventually...) would have reached 190mph or so, hence why it appears to blow past the R1 eventually.

I'm sure that Jetwash can cause other jets to loose control and crash then surely a Porshe 911 and a R1 would have no hope! :S

Also, planes are a tad more reliant on air flow for stablity, while cars/bikes rely on their tyres.

Don't see a problem with it really, all seems to make sense. Suspect the R1 should get to around 175mph or so, but won't be accelerating too fast while if it's a decent Porsche it should have a bit more than that.

I suspect a new GSXR1000 derestricted might be a slightly different proposition.

Maybe its due to the aerodynamcis. The car has lots of power and good aerodynamics, so wouldn't be too much affected by the jet blasting past.

The bike has low weight but low power, and not brilliant aerodynamics. The blast from the jet would greatly affect it.

I think the biker slowed down because he lost his nerve because of the jet.

The rear end doesn't look kwak, which made me think it was an aftermarket seat cover, but the side vents on the fairing look more kwak than R1 to me. Could be the bike equivalent of a cut & shut lol

There would be very little jet wash either side of the aircraft. manufacturers of jets spend a lot of R&D ensuring that as much of the thrust as possible is directly opposite the intended direction. Otherwise it's just wasted energy. Thats why the exit nozzles are the shape they are.

Aint that in Russia and so the jets Russian?! A Mig of some sort possibly.

And yes it is an R1!

At the end of the video you see the rider giving out. I guess the blast from the jet unsettled the bike (either from the engines or the wake vortices from the wing-tips).

I was talking to my Dad, he used to be in the RAF and he said that the plane has to build up it's power even from reheat. It's the same with the car the power isn't there straight away. Where with the bike it is ! Thats how the bike is faster than the others.

The bike and car wouldn't be affected by jetwash because the planes engines are alot higher then the car and bike. And the car and bike arn't directly behind the plane.
