My guess is that you need to get the battery charged up by the sounds of it.

If the 'Funny sound' is a click or series of clicks its as Davo said, your battery is to flat to start the bike.

yea the funny noise is probably the starter solinoid, it will either click or buzz.

check to see where the noise comes from, it may come from a little black box beside the battery. if this is so, its prob the flat battery. if you can get a lend of a charger, or another battery, then try starting it from that.

if the noise comes from elsewhere, give us a shout.

could either be starter solinoid is fryed, but this is unlikely. perhaps your starter motor is jamed, or could be burnt out. are you sure your battery is fully charged? and is connected up alright? where does the buzzing come from?

does your battery charge ok off the generator when the bikes running? a major problem i had with my bike was the regulator/rectifier wasnt letting the battery charge properly.

That may change things, sounds like the main earth strap has come loose, check the battery terminals are tight and that the terminals on the starter are tight.

As for the lights its not a quirk, you have a bad earth somewhere. Check all the bulbs connectors for corrosion and make sure everything is how it should be, ie; wires are not hanging on by just one thread.
