You could have slipped in a photograph half way down and I probably wouldn't have noticed.

Looks awesome, still won't be buying an xbox 360.

Not highly impressed, mainly because PC graphics has been there and done that a while ago now.

Yeah, except they dont actually, PC pre-renders and publicity shots do, the games are never that good.

Also, consider that the XBox 360 can be had for 1/3 the price of a PC that'd come close to those graphics.

Very impressive.

And for those who say that PCs will soon get better and you can't upgrade a console, think of the difference in the 5 years that the XBox has been out, first games to the graphics now, and the fact that no-one is sure how to program really well for multiple processor computers so there will be big leaps forward in graphics.

Why is the importance all on graphics? Sure they look good but if it doesn't play well, then I won't buy it.

Look at moto gp 3 on the pc. Bag of shite to play but LOOKED nice.

But the point is, most people who use the forum who are into games will already have a decent spec PC. An Xbox 360 is a further cost. I won't be buying one for any game. For the cost of the xbox you can upgrade your memory and graphics card to handle something like this with change left over.

You never played the likes of HL2, DOOM3, Far Cry then? My pc cost me about £500 to build over a year ago and could easily cope with those graphics and does.

"Comes close to those graphics", man what the hell are you on about.

Were you saying the xbox360 has multi proccessors? That's not new in the PC world either.

Screenshot taken from my pc, which isn't the best PC now days but still good...

I've got an Xbox 360, you will need a £1000-1500+ PC to keep up. The boxing game Fight Night 3 (theres a demo on Xbox Live) pretty much has the best graphics ever seen in ay game before, it is more or less life like even sat 30cm from my 32" TV.

Yes PC's will start to look better, but it'll be years and years before a PC costing £210 will be able to outperform an Xbox 360 (Hell, I doubt a £210 PC could out perform a original xbox and thats now 4-5 years old)

Anyone saying their £500 PC can keep up is wrong, simple as.

Someone run FEAR/Q4 etc at 1280x1024 with max detail, 4xFSAA and tell me how meny FPS you get on a £500 PC. My PC would cost me close to £500 today and I cant even get a solid 30FPS in FEAR at 1024x768 without any AA, let alone with AA.

Thank you.

I bet you're not using a HD tv either? the 360 looks that much better on HD as well.

MY brother has spent about £2000 on his pc over the lst 24 months and yes it looks very nice, but the 360 will outperform it.

Denial is pointless!

Yes it's good to have amazing graphics, but all I see when I read stats of peoples machines and what it can handle is "I have a small penis."

Anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering are nice effects, as are vertex and pixel shading, bump mapping and all the rest of it, but none of it can make a boring game enjoyable. I played Doom3 with a GeForce3 Ti 200 at 1024 without any AA, AF, shadows etc and it was brilliant. I've now got a Radeon 9800 that can handle all the extra effects. Does it look better? Certainly. Is the gameplay better? Nope, still the same.

I don't understand this thing with "your PC is crap because it cost £1000 and my Xbox has better graphics." So what. The Xbox does not have the versatility of a PC. Remember, a PC is for life, not just for gaming.

I've got a HDTV but used it on a normal TV for a few days and it still looked awesome.

Funnily, A mate came around last night to have a look at the xbox in action, he wasnt really that interested. He's a bit of a PC gamer, thought the 360 wouldnt be much better than a normal Xbox and certainly not match up to his PC. Well after a few games and him driving down Las Vegas stripe just looking at the sceaner for about 30mins he came to the conclusion that it currently kicks the shit out of anything a PC can currently shit out.

I've always had PC's and spent a load of money keeping it upto date but it's starting to take the piss if you wanna keep it up there, you're talking £200-400 for a CPU, £300-500 for a grahpics card every 6-12 months then the formfactor changes and you have to buy a new mobo/psu/memory etc. I and meny others just got bored of the expense.

Why not have a decent-ish pc for surfing/download etc and spend £210-£270 on a console which wont be out of date and need upgrading in 6-12months.

People, PC's will ALWAYS have the best graphics.

And technically speaking, the Xbox360 is just a PC in a unupgradable form.

If you are willing to invest SERIOUS money, you can have a PC that blows the Xbox360 completely out of the water.

I think thats the main point. Why spend serious money on a pc for gaming when you can spend £300-£400 and get a decent pc and then £280 for an xbox.

That way you get your gaming fix, and with xbox live you still get the multi player aspect, but you also have your pc for business and net surfing and at least £500 in your pocket that you wouldn't of had if you went for a gaming pc

Agree with Instigators comment earlier. All gaming sems to be about nowadays is how pretty it looks. Confused

Remember the good old days of the Mega Drive, SNES. Remember C64's amd Amiga 500's. They were the days when we had something called inovation and playability.

The important thing about PC's is that they are upgradeable, heck in 6 months the xbox360 will have a major flaw in that i can only play standard DVD's and not HD-DVD's, woops, they are fucked if they will ever have long gameplay style games, when their 8GB Dual Layer discs get whooped by a 40GB HD DVD.

I'll be able to go out and buy a new HD-DVD drive quite easily for the PC in about a year and i'll be able to watch HD movies on my PC.

In 3 years time the Xbox 360 will once again look shite compared to PC graphics.

Or you could just buy the HD-DVD drive that's coming out for 360 at the end of the year. See here:

No anti-aliasing? And the resolution looks really, really low.

Not particularly impressive graphics imo.

I've seen an XBOX 360 run on my mates 42" telly and it just looks so disappointing. Seen COD2, PGR3 and some other FPS running and I was like, Hmmm.

PGR3 appeals to me but I won't be going to spend £300 to get it up and running.

The comment about playability is a good one, graphics don't mean shit.........

Remember Sensible World of Soccer? Still play that game to this day!

In 3 years how much would you had spent keeping your PC upto date?

Also, The forum has resized those pics thats why they look jaggly, copy the links into another window, they'll look better.

MS are releasing a HD-DVD addon (and maybe a Blueray if that wins the battle) however it wont play games on HD discs. I dont really think dual layer DVD's are gonna be a huge problem, instead of massive FMV clips they'll just use rendered scenes or they can just have it over 2 DVD's like meny meny games had 2+ CD's.
