Hi i ordered alot of mods for the bike today, prob weeks wages worth.

Went to order the headlight cover for a 05 gixxer and i dont have a clue what colour to do it in, the front end is Blue but i find the blue cover abit tackey,i really wanted white to make it look more racer type but wouldnt match the blue front end.

Any one got ideas or pictures of different colours? i have tryed looking on ebay and other places but cant findd any.

thanks.

i have a light smoked headlight cover for my mille
looks the bizz
i picked light smoke because i want folk to see me coming
if you go silly with white or really heavy colours you've less chance of those dozy car drivers noticing your headlight

I want one that blocks the light out, and so i can take it off if i need to for night time riding.

Seems hard to get the look you need.

Cant have white since it wont suite the bike (pic)

Your right marc i think it does increase your chances of beening seen by other drivers by about 30% i think? not sure, i have been riding for 4 years on the road and have never came off once.

If anyone has a picture of different colours on the bikes then i would be greatfull.

Only takes one idiot to not see you and its u who gets the bad end of the deal. And yea I surpose lights on even during the day does help a bit but to be honest I cant really see it helping u that much apart from when u follow a car before u overtake it then atleast the driver should see u more easyier with ur lights on.

I think it would look alright in white but if not then I'd say black.

I was talking to a guy with an SP2 in red. he got told off many times by the police for his covers, and he often forgot to take them off at night.

His solution was to buy some clear ones, and have the garage spray the INSIDE of them red, appart from a small gap at the top. This left them with a gloss laquerd look from the outside, and side lights Thumbs Up

Load of rubbish, daytime running lights (first introduced in Finland in the 1970's) only reduced vehicle-animal accidents, not vehicle-vehicle accidents. You can research this via the wonder that is Google, if you like Smile

The advent of "always on" headlights in the last five years hasn't caused a related fall in accident rates either.

Defensive riding is your friend, along with using your brain - and not relying on headlights Thumbs Up

I bought a clear cover for my GSX-R - no issues with legality, or having to worry about removing it if I'm out after dark Thumbs Up

I got a orange one on mine, mainly because it's road legal and only cost £5 in a bargain bucket. Used it when I went on a Bikesafe, asked the cop and he said it was fine. Yellow ones are fine too.

But it sounds like you want something more tarty, Just get a Blue/Black one.

A totally transparent headlight cover is the only legal one. Anything else is asking to get pulled in my opinion but hey!... It's your money.

go for dark blue or black Thumbs Up I reckon white would look sweet if you painted a number board round the headlight.

I know several traffic cops that would pull you for having one, something about obscuring the headlight irrelevant of whether its daylight or not.

Not sure of the in's and outs. Know several people been stopped for it, if your running a race can/small plate I wouldnt risk it.

I think headlight covers look shite. Even clear 1's up close look like bits of tat velcro'd to what is usually a lovely sculptured areodynamic piece of design. Ruins the flow and the dynamic of the nose fairing.

I think the bike looks great as it is.

Why would they pull u over, ur allowed to ride without a headlight on the front of the bike at all, the only light u need during day time is a brake light.

Was watching one of them police programes the other day, they pulled a rider over and called in some sort of "bike police expert" to see if the like was legal to ride on the road since it only had a brake light. The expert guy said it was legal when he looked over it but since it took so long for the expert guy to get there it turned dark and the guy had to get his mate with a trailor to pick him up which I think was a proper cunt.

Who cares what the (cheap) covers look like, as long as they stop the (expensive) headlights being chipped/cracked by the occasional stone? Question Rolling Eyes

If I'm being honest, I care what it looks like!

Some mods I like, some I don't.

In 10 years on the road, I've never had a headlamp smashed by a stone, nor know of anyone who has. I'm probably temting fate, but there you go. I'm sure there are people on here who have had them smashed, but I'm just going by my own experience.

For the same reason that I think they look naff, I also don't cover my fairings in protective film, 'just in case' they get chipped by stones. Where do you draw the line?

I do. And I noticed a chip in my headlight last year too. I'll blame the local councils for the prevalence of chipping surfaces on our B-roads Sad Thumbs Down
