Anyone have any information on the zr750 or zr750s the newer style not the zephyr version. Are they similar to bandits and hornets?

Do you mean the ZR-7 or the new Z750? I have a ZR-7S. I can give you info on that, if that's the one you are interested in.

Plus points:

Cheap as chips to buy.
Cheap to insure.
Cheap to run.
Engine that has seen service / development for about 20 years.
Air and oil cooled, so low maintainance.
Bullet proof reliability. It never ever breaks down or gives any problems.
Cheap spares, but you'll never need them.
Styling that is acceptable for its age / price.
Large and heavy bike to sit on but surprisingly nimble and easy to ride.
Upright (comfortable) seating position.
Excellent pillion seat.
Large fuel tank (does about 200 to 250 miles between refills).
Decent fuel economy (45 to 50 mpg).
The half faired 'S' version is good for long rides.
Excellent tourer / daily commuter / all purpose bike.
Decent performance, but it is not a sports bike. Loads of torque.

Minus points:

It is not a very exciting bike.
Was savaged by the motorcycle press when released (It was compared with sports bikes); thats why it is cheap.
It wont win races against sports bikes, but should be able to keep up on rideouts e.t.c.
It cannot be flicked as easily as a proper sports bike, but handles well on the whole.
The fairing on the S version can buzz (can be controlled to a very large extent by tightening various screws).
Benefits from rejetting and aftermarket exhausts, but still is not a sports bike.
Front end can dive on harsh braking with heavy riders (improves if you change to progressive springs). No problems if you are not heavy.
If you pay over the odds for it, you could lose money.
It will not give you too many sphincter dialating moments while riding, if you like those sort of thrills Wink .
Feels more like a trusted pet dog than a trained greyhound.

I bought by 2001 ZR-7S 14K miles for just over £2K, from a dealer. Costs me £400 to insure (fully comp, £200 excess, breakdown and legal cover included) with 0 ncb, 3 points on my licence and a bad post code. You will find that most people who have owned ZR7's in the past will recommend them, but those who haven't, dont think much of them. Hope this helps.
