I have a 1997 Suzuki GS500EV and I'm replacing the stock carburetor with a Keihin CR Special 39mm

The stock carburetor has a vacuum tube which drives a diaphragm on the secondary fuel pet-cock.

Does anyone know if the Keihin carb does the same thing? Or do I go with gravity flow and remove the diaphragm pet-cock?

I'm unable to find online any documentation/manuals on this specific carburetor other than a parts diagram and parts list; which is of little help.

Anyone know about the vacuum issue?

Hi

I take it you mean a pair of carbs.

Unlikely that it will have the take off points for the vacuum fuel tap (although possible if it is a kit designed for the GS500), but are there take off points on the inlets after the carbs for to connect up vacuum gauges to balance the carbs? If so use one of these.

All the best

Keith

Thanks for your input. I'm not sure about the vacuum ports used to balance the carbs (yes they are paired carbs for the gs500 twins).

Attached is a pic of the other side of the carbs showing a small black plastic fitting for tubing. Each carb body has one of these. Any thoughts?

Sorry for the small pic, not my choice.

Hi

I am not certain about the pipe you mention (cannot see it in the piccy!), but a pipe for balancing the carbs would be after the throttle itself. Given the layout of that carb (and how there is no space between the slide area and the section that goes into the mounting rubber) I would suspect they do not have anything to connect vacuum gauges to. However is there a facility for connecting the vacuum gauges on the carb mounting rubbers themselves?

All the best

Keith
