Took the poxy pink stickers off today, intend replacing them with some plain silver "KAWASAKI" stickers up front where the KLE thing was like the newer model and "500" on the side panel where it had some dodgy twin cylinder stickers in a comedy font, again they were girly pink !

Cheers I'm a lot happier with it, I could've coped if it was a fully emblazened sports bike. But being the only decal on the bike it sort of jumped out and screamed HAIRDRESSER Shocked especially against the dark background. It had to go Very Happy

Just can't wait to get it out on the road now, having it sitting in the garage is bloody murder Mad

What method did you use to get them off? I gave up on removing a sticker with (boiling) hot water and a hairdryer but I think it had been lacquered over, without really knowing.

Hairdryer and finger nail to start a corner then just carefully peeled and kept the heat on to soften the adhesive as it went, piece of P155. Wink

First tank did about 200 miles but the second one I've just done 100 and had to flick it on reserve. It holds about £10 from full to reserve so about 2.5 gallon, I think I must have been gunning it a bit too much this week Shocked

Just given it a wash down after this weeks riding it was plastered in salt, couldn't resist a few piccys Wink I think I love my bike more than the missus Shocked Mr. Green

I like the front ones, but the 'twin cylinder' ones make it look overdone...

Damn nice though Thumbs Up Wink

I disagree, I think it looks perfect how it is and without stickers on the front and back it would have looked a little bit plain, definately much better with the new stickers and not those rather embarrasing pink ones! Razz

A bit of useless info for you, but although they might look the same, the GPZ, ER-5 and KLE engine are entirely different on the whole, well the carbs, cams, ports and ignition timing are... which is essentially a different engine. Plus the GPZ engine was in nicer shade of black Razz

The ER-5 makes 50hp

Your KLE is also 50hp but the poor thing when bought new is now only 45hp as it's muffled with no less than 3 Cat's to meet Euro regs Thumbs Down

The GPZ500s kicked out 60Bhp by the time it was discontinued (in the UK that is) and it will be missed by many as it was easily the best of the 500's. (except in looks as the ER-5 and KLE have 'timeless' styling that won't ever age)

Well they're near enough the same lump, certainly 90% of the parts are from the same bin so you could say the ER & KLE are the next generation of the GPZ engine, tuned for more torque lower down, but less top end power.

In terms of styling I think the ER is plain enough to get away with it and hasn't had any major design changes, nothing too in your face just a classic naked look. However the KLE is a bit more subjective, especially now they've updated the model with a new front end etc... The rear end is also looking a little dated to me, I think its the big rear mud guard, reflector and square light that do it.

But all that said I like it as it is and they're not that commen so attract plenty of attention, quite often when I pull up for fuel or park it up in town someone will pass comment on it. I think everyones been watching The Long Way Round so assume its a world beating continental adventure bike for hairy scotsmen Mr. Green I do put them straight though it's a long way off a Beemer Wink

I'm already being tempted by an Africa Twin at my local bike shop, and I've only been on the road just over a week Rolling Eyes Must resist !!!
