doesnt look healthy

hi my bike had a strange rattleing noise coming from the cylinder barrel so took the cylinder head and barrel off for the first time since i bought it and the piston didnt look healthy at all see pictures below could someone please look at them and tell me what could have caused this and if the piston will need replacing it is off a kawasaki kmx 125 2002 model

The piston does look scored in those pictures, but they are a bit blurry, can you feel it with your finger?
What does the bore look / feel like?

Hi

At a guess a light heat seize at some point has caused it. Certainly worth replacing the piston now you have got it apart.
