Alarm dead?

I have not used my bike since september although I have had it running a few times (albeit not since december), anyway I have had my optimated connected to the bike for the last week but my alarm wont respond to me pressing disable on the key fob.

It is a datatool evo alarm which was attached to the bike (sprintST) when I bought it scond hand last summer.

I dont want to try and start the bike in case the alarm is triggered and I can't switch it off.

The optimate says the battery is charged.

When the alarm battery goes flat does the alarm reset or lose its memory or anything, or will it once charged function normally.

Is the alarm LED flashing? If so, how long between flashes?
Datatool alarms have a 'sleep' mode, where they draw much less power (about 5 seconds between flashes). Mine does it after not being used for a week or so. Sometimes pressing the remote button for a second or two is enough to deactivate it. Sometimes you need to turn the ignition on then off, then the alarm will deactivate when you press the remote button. (If it's well into sleep mode, the alarm won't go off at first, just 'wake up'.)

Worst case scenario - your alarm remote has a flat battery. In that case, if the alarm does go off when you turn the ignition on you have to listen to it wail for 30 seconds. If you know the manual over-ride code, you will still be able to start it after the alarm's sounded. If not, you need a new remote battery.

It might be worth having a pillow on standby - alarms are pretty loud close up, especially inside a garage!
