So I have an idea, I want to make some prototypes, maybe some drawings I guess.
To kick off I needed a few things answered.
Can I buy the connectors at the bottom of phones, on their own?
If you are wondering what I’m on about, it’s the connectors that you plug the chargers into.
They are individual parts, but I didn’t know if they were only made buy the company who make the phone.
Also where can I find information about moulding plastic (similar materials).

Thanks

p.s. no I’m not going to make my own phone…. lol

You'd probably be better off asking the phone manufacturers rather than a bunch of people on a bike forum.

Ring up Nokia or something.

Some people might have had experience in this Jon, rather than asking a manufacturer if I can have their patented connector someone might know where to find replica’s.

No doubt you will be able tobuy parts for a particualr phone, if its the phone end then yes you will have to look to the manufacturer, or bucher a phone.. unless you can blag a demo "pretend" phone, if you want the other end then try e-bay, get the cheapest data cable or chatever, split its caseing (usualy two bits of plastic fused together, and then you have your connector... or cut the wire, use a continuity tester to work out which pin is which wire/colour.. how easy it will be will depend on the kind of phone.. if its power supply related be cafefull not to fry your phone... they are sensitive bits of kit!

good luck Thumbs Up

Try CPC at Preston. If it is electronic/electrical and available to buy, they will have it.

A bit like the screwfix catalogue of electrical stuff (I have their brochure at work, it is twice as thick as the yellow pages). Cheap too. I just got some top-quality gold terminal audio leads for a fiver each, the exact same ones in comet are £25.
