Heya,

I've been riding for over 2 years now and absolutely love it. However, over the winter I've been commuting back and forth to work (~120 mile round trip) a couple of days a week and can't help thinking that It'd be nice to learn how to drive so that I have a bit of choice - it also makes sense while I have the time and am still relatively young (20).

I've done about ~13 hours driving lessons already and have no idea how many thousand hours of biking i've done... (~40k miles) and I personally believe I could do a semi-intensive 10-or-so lesson course to get myself used to a car and just go straight for my test.

Anybody else got any experience of learning to ride first and then going to learn to drive... how many lessons did you do? and how ignorant do you have to be towards the driving schools who seem to want you to do 40+ lessons before they'll even consider helping you to pass your test...

Chris

Hi. What I did was get insured on my sisters car, then drive that around until I felt ready, took my theory then booked my test.

I then rang up an instructor, told him the date of my test, and so I've squeezed in about 3 lessons already, got 2 more next week, then my test.

With your 2 years of biking experience and 13 hours already under the belt you won't need more than 5 or 6 lessons. Thumbs Up
