Story is just developing now, an egyption cruise has been "lost" and has "disappeared" from radar screens. It has 1,300 people on board.

I'm not sure how a cruise ship can simply disappear from radar, apart from sinking, although even then it should show. The should be an interesting story to follow!

WTF! nothing to do with that barmuda (sp) triangle is it? ya know where things go missing randomly.

Shocked

EDIT: Found this:

Lifeboats carrying people have been spotted on the sea near where the ship, the “Salaam 98,” was last seen on the radar screens, maritime officials said.

ships go missing all the time, mostly stolen by alqueda, but majority of them are tanker ships, with something like 11 people on board. so they don't get nearly as much coverage as the cruise liners.

it's something like 5 a month of those tankers that get stolen. now australia has maritime security guards on the ships, licenced and holding AK-47's just waiting for those little dingy's to climb aboard.

theres a massive straite that runs inbetween indonesia, or maylasia, or somewhere North West of australia, thats where most of them happen.

they get 2 motor-less boats (little metal clap-traps) and run a marine rope across the straite, then as the ship passes through it, the balancing weights (the big nub on the front of the ship below the water) then hooks into the rope, which in-turn drags the motor-less boats to the ship, then they swing their grappling hooks over board and take over the ship.

APPARENTLY they're stealing the ships for A) goods worth value, B) load them up with weapons of mass destruction if they ever get their hands on some, and cruise off to do some damage, or C) try and sell them back to the companys.

It's Allah's way of telling muslims than he can take a joke, so why can't they?

the bbc site said some of the dead people on the cruise ship were muslims on their way back from mecca

there was also the stampede at mecca that killed quite a few muslims

if i believed in god, i wd think god wasnt too keen on muslims

Yeah, they've sent HMS Bulwark - a massive assault ship, a tad unnecessary perhaps. It'll be there in a day and a half.

Of all the ships to send an albion class would be one of the first I would use. Can take 700 troops overloaded and can embark and disembark landing craft. Can take two helos and can take a chinook.

A better idea would be to send a Danish ship to help.
