My fella started my bike the other day, blipped it and it cut out. The choke was on full. We tried to bump it but this didn't work either. We tried for a while but gave up and left it over night thinking it was flooded. He went to start it last night and it still won't work. Can anyone help me please? I've only had it for 10 days and rode it twice. Sad

Silly ones, but check you've not left the petrol off, or may even just need putting onto reserve.

Does it sound like its catching as if it wants to start, or just totally dead?

Plugs could be fouled, or the thing could be flooded.

petrol could be stale

battery could need charging.

Remember, start it on full choke and no throttle!

this is important. your tube on top of you tank is a breather so that when fuel is released from your tank air replaces the space that the fuel occupied. Basically it could be suction stopping the fuel getting to your engine. so check that the pipe isnt jammed somewhere or blocked so blow/suck on the breather pipe and try to determine if air is getting through properly.

you sort of limited your post. does the starter motor turn does it fire a little bit or nothing?

You could do a test to rule out that its the engine that is the cause by removing the tank/airbox and spray wd40 it will it get it to fire.
if it does fire then you have a carb problem.

try those things first and report back and i'll give you some more stuff to try.

Tried it with the petrol on, on reserve and off (just for good measure) and still nothing. It sounded a couple of times that it wanted to catch but then just went back to turning over. Even checked the cut-out switch. Will try a few of the other suggestions and let you guys know what worked.

Hi, thanks for your suggestions. Petrol is only a few days old and the battery has been on charge over night. Could the plugs still be flooded if it's been left overnight (a few days now) and what is the "thing"?

mate it really sounds like uve flooded it, nc30's seem to have to be started proper 1st time, its to easy to flood them,
1st your need to unscrew your fairings, then bolt of the petrol tank, and a few pipes ,the petrol will leak, after that your see the 2 easy to get to spark plugs, take them out and give them a good clean, then thier is another 2 at the front,(hard 2 get to), clean theses aswell, then leave the bike for a hour for air, then build back up,then it should be sorted, its much easyer than it sounds lol,

Thank's for that. We've managed to sort it out. The fuel feeder pipe had a kink in it and wasn't pumping the petrol to the carbs. Thanks for all your help. I'm a happy chick again. Laughing

Very Happy I had the same problem when I first fiddled with my bike it took me over a month to learn what I had done.

Lots of people do it, just go to www.400greybike.co.uk for the best info regarding the nc30. It's not as clicky as hear but whatever you need to know about your bike you'll propbably find it their and quickly too.
