Go take your bike for a spin, put on the indictaors and headlights on full beam and any other lights you can turn on too, and the bike revving as highly as possible with all lights tunred on, if you dont notice any problems, i.e indi's flashing incorrectly headlights dimming, missing sparks then you should not really need one.
P.S this only works AFTER you have fitted the intended lights

headlights go off screen loses most power and all lights go dull except the new lights, there all running off battery so revving sont make any differnce.

A relay is used to avoid you overloading the existing wiring and switches when you fit something that will be drawing extra current. It allows you to run a wire of the appropriate thickness to the auxillary lights and use the existing wiring to switch it on via the relay (the relay only draws a very small current to make it switch).

I would suggest that it is more likely the charging system on your bike can't cope with the amount of power you are asking it to provide to your new lights.

What are they? (couple of 55w spotlights or something like that?)

yes 2 55watt how they are wired up is that my headlight switch has got a spare setting so i put it on them but the relay i got told to buy jumps it up to 30amps from the 1.3 or what ever my battery is.

Nah, the relay will cope with up to 30 amps. If there was 30 amps going through your headlamp wiring the fuses would blow and/or your wiring would catch fire.

Assuming a standard 'small bike' setup with a 35w tungsten filament bulb (you are on a moped right?):

2x55w lamps plus 35w headlamp plus 10w tail light and 3x5w instrument lamps = 170w of draw. At 14 volts that is drawing 12.7 amps.

Your 'normal' lighting circuit draws 4.3 amps. So, you are drawing nearly three times the power your bike was designed to provide. Your charging system is unlikely to be able to cope. Even a CB125 is only pushing out up to 15A (total) at 10,000 revs

If this lot isn't going through a relay, you are running a real risk of melting your wiring, probably the only thing preventing this is the fact that the bike is unable to provide enough power to do so.
