Hey all,

You may have read in a previous thread about me wanting to get a large capacity muscle bike, THe XJR1300, GSR1400, CB1300 etc.

Sadly, I have had to knock this on the head, insurance would not bee too healthy unfortunately. Crying or Very sad

I am looking at something a bit more reasonable now.

My top 3 (this time) are...

Suzuki GSR600
Yamaha MT-03
Kawasaki Z750

I think the GSR will stay at the bottom of my list. I say on it at the MCN Show in London and the frame (as Kickstart said) sticks out quite far so that would be a major point of contact if I was to have 'an off'.

The MT-03 I have only briefly looked at in person and would need a closer inspection. If you've had a good look can you let me know what it's like?

The Z750 I have liked for a while now. It's a bit of a step up from my Bandit 600, but not too OTT. However, being the larger of the three, am I again going to get done over on insurance? Also, the 2nd hand values of these bikes are only £500(ish) lower than a new MT-03.

I know at the end of the day I have to make my own choice, but before I start to book test rides and get excited can anyone offer any advice? Would I be daft to go from a Bandit 600 to another 600?

Thanks a lot!

Bandit 1200? Pretty cheap on insurance, and definately a muscley bike.

McJamweaselbeat me to it. You can pick up 1200 Bandits for next to nothing upwards. Insurance wise an older bike should be cheaper and I think the Bandit is not bad anyway.

Z750 looks like a good bike, just I would have the nagging feeling that I had bought the runner up when the Z1000 is available.

Whether another 600 is appropriate depends on what you want a bike for. If you want to ride flat out on the fastest thing you can afford then probably not a good idea (but then you will soon run out of faster upgrades).

What is your budget for a bike and what is your budget for insurance?

All the best

Keith

Sat on the Z750 and MT-03 at the Ally Pally and found them to be fairly similar. The GSR you mentioned looked and felt wider than the Z750 to me, although it probably isnt.

MT-03 and Z750 had similar reaches to the bars, with the Kawa's being wider and being lent slightly further forward. Seat heights were similar and not a great deal of difference between the widths tbh.

Out of those two I'd take the Z750 unless your doing city work only. The Z750 will be faster and more practical overall, particularly if you went for the s version.

I'm currently paying about £300 for the Bandit, would not be too upset if I had to pay another £150 on top, bearing in mind I have 6 points at the moment.

I'm not one for going as fast as possible in a straight line, nor do I feel the need to get my knee down on every roundabout (mainly because I can't Embarassed ).

The bike may be used for commuting, I'm not sure yet.

As for a bike budget, well, that's flexible, I would either trade in the current bike, or if I buy privately, sell it on eBay.
