Hertfordshire County Council have somehow persuaded me to help to train their primary school teachers in the wonderful task of how to turn their little terrors into good citizens.

I have been asked because of my involvement in the voluntary sector, with specific emphasis on my involvement with the BMF (combating political apathy) and Fairtrade.

Do I get paid for this, I hear you ask! Do I fuck! Laughing

The teachers are little terrors Laughing ?

More seriously, how do you turn the kids from terrors into something useful?

All the best

Keith

I'll let you know if I figure it out!

Back now - interesting session from a magistrate who helps to run a programme of magistrates going into primary schools to discuss the law.

She says that when she started 10 years ago, the youngsters she dealt with were 13+ and mostly boys.

Now they are as young as 11 and it's mostly girls.

Hi

The kids this magistrate talks to. Are these having the talks because they have been caught breaking the law, or is it just a pre emptive discussion?

All the best

Keith

No - the kids have not been in trouble. This is just a proactive move by the magistrates to try and prevent them cocking up in the first place.

Seems like quite a good idea to me.

So what made the magistrates shift from "targetting" 13yr old boys to 11yr old girls?

It's cool to be able to make a difference though. Does the BMF side of things centre around the political activity parts or are you going to be recruiting a bunch of new bikers?

Magistrates are not "targetting" anyone - they are going in to whatever schools will have them.

Yes - it centred around the political activity parts. However, our involvement in the education side with Herts County Council won't hurt when we are working with them on other issues. Laughing

A very good point. And hopefully one you can use in the future.

Good luck with it all.

Cheers

Byrnie.
