Oops, managed to knee me mate in the thigh today, except his iPod was in his pocket Rolling Eyes
Seems I have buggered the screen, but its not cracked, just the pressure has basically made the ink explode inside or sommat, I've heard of it happening before. And I managed that with the protective case thing aswell. But how much is it gonna cost to repair it, is it totally destroyed or can it be repaired. Wont be covered under guarantee though will it? Cos I feel really bad and I wanna know how much I'm gonna have to stomach up to repair it.

Which ipod?

Its usually cheaper to replace the whole unit than get it repaired unless you can source a cheap scree from somewhere.

If it's a nano and it's less than a year old, they should fix it for you. Work colleague had the same problem. Had it replaced within 5 days.

heard about that happening a lot with the nano, even with people just sitting down and forgetting it's in their pocket.. problem is its so "nano" that it can flex enough to bugger the screen

Yeah less than a year, its not the newest video one, nor the nano, its the slightly older one, comes in silver, green etc?
Well I dont think its the nano anyway, aint too sure, the nanos I've seen are pretty thin, this is a bit thicker?

Where was it bought?

My boss' one broke, took it back to carphone warehouse, they arranged for apple to collect it, fix it and return it within a week.

Its an ippod mini then.

I doubt you can get it done on warranty. Screens can be bought from ebay.

Should be able to change it yourself.

That's the mini. He can try and get them to repair it for free by claiming it was unreasonable damage, saying he only sat down with it in his pocket and it happened.

If not, you could pick a new one up for around £130, at a guess. You could always just get him the Nano, that's the new version of the mini.

Apple Customer service is the best I've ever seen, so it's worth a try.

Ive had my Ipod mini for nearly 8 months and the battery life is about 1 hour from being fully charged! At this moment the screen says its playing music but no sound, and yes volume is fully up and ive tried different headphones.

Anyone else experienced problems with theirs?

It sounds pretty dead. Just fill in the form on the Apple website and they'll come and collect it. That is, provided you got it new and it's less than a year old.

We repair the philips Hdd mp players at work & we get tons of em in with fu**ed batteries. Why the hell didn't they make em with a mobile phone type battery that you can take out & replace?? Its stupid. We're getting some that are only a couple of months old & the batteries goosed already.
