|
|
Well, that's the question. If you had one long weekend free to go touring on your bike, whereabouts in the UK would you go, and why.
Perhaps you'd shell out and take the ferry over to Ireland (not strictly the UK, I know). Maybe the the mountains of North Wales would be more your thing. England isn't renowned as being a great country to tour but it does have the lake district, the peak district, and Yorkshire as well. And then of course there's Scotland, but its beauty and fantastic roads come at the price of big mileage and the high petrol costs that ensue.
If you have good photos which epitomise why a place would be particularly good to tour on your bike, then for gods sake post them! Personal experiences and specific roads and locations are exactly what I'm looking for. Don't be shy, don't be vague - Whereabouts have you been in this fair Isle that has made your eyes light up at the thought of a day spent in the saddle? ____________________ Hard livin', hard luck. |

I think if I lived in a city somewhere in the South of England and I didn't want to travel too far for a good ride and good views. I'd definately go to Exmoor or Dartmoor.
However my personal choice, because I haven't done it yet would be Scotland. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. I'd vote for the lake district for a weekend as theres lots around in the area and lots of nice roads that can easily be done in a weekend. Lost of other places nearby for a run such as yorkshire or hartside or passes such as hardknott and wrynose pass that present a good challenge etc etc
Theres also Isle of Skye which is a nice getaway |
