Hey guys, forum caught my eye couple days ago then I saw can ask about other bikes too
My Dilemma: I'm 16 and my bike is great and I love it to pieces! BUT, on trips to college I always have to go down the ring road, and on other fairly long roads I always seem to get real embarressed because I want to go faster and keep up with the cars but I just can't.
Now, I have heard several different stories about this bike, some say max is 45 some even say 75+
When I got the bike for 500 it was derestricted but I don't actually know what's been done in that respect of derestricting it. I have got 56MPH out of it and that was about a month after I got it on a sunny day with the wind behind me. I'm not exactly a big guy either, 5 ft 7 and just over 9 st. I haven't had 55 or 56 for months and I think I have got 54 once in the last 3 months. Might not sound very fast to all you guys with big bikes but we all start somewhere right? 50+ is good going these days
Is there any ways to get the bike to go abit quicker so it's not as embarressing when i'm there going along and causing queues
Thanks in advance

sure is, thats bout as quick as a stock de-restricted ones gonna go, to go faster go for a race exhaust to start with, if you wanna keep it 50cc get a 19mm carb(best size for a 50cc cylinder) or if you get a big bore kit to up the capacity to about 70-ish, get a 21mm, 21mm will work on a 50cc cylinder, but it slightly floods it in the low gears at low rpm. If you go for a 21mm carb, race exhaust and a big bore kit you should see about 70mph on the clocks, maybe more. Be warned though, a big bore will put more stress on the crank and con rod, but plenty of people have them without problems. |

Thanks for the reply, well I have about 5 months till I am 17 and I don't know whether to get a car or a 125 (NSR 125 caught my eye big time that's how I discovered this forum) but then car is more practical. Anyway,
I have seen quite a few DNAs with exhausts that look like a Scorpian for say a GSXR1000, what I mean by that is more a big can instead of the typical small can and pipe coming back on itself if you get what I mean? If not then I will get a picture.
My dad said don't fork out for a exhaust because I could find out that the exhaust I have makes it go abit quicker so I didn't buy one.
I want one that doesn't 'fold' back on itself and sounds nice instead of the typical 50cc moped, can you recommend any exhausts that look like a nice can for my bike?
Lastly, which would produce better alone, exhaust or carb?Bit tight on cash at the moment.
Sorry if I sound abit newbie but I haven't really got a clue about bikes lol, always been a car guy till my 16th |

haha no worries i'm more cars aswell, but I know a bit about both. You wont get anywhere with just a carb, go for the exhaust first, then carb, then big bore if you need extra. You want one that doesnt fold back on itself, hmmm well, they are designed like that for a reason, and a half decent exhaust will fold back on itself. Leovince looks quite good, have a google and see what you can find. Dont forget to change rollers either, I think some exhausts come with the rollers you need, but I'm not too good with rollers and stuff as my 50 has gears and thus no rollers. |

Yea just abit late lol
I bought it and it should arrive tomorrow, Yea it's a 50 but for 45 quid for the exhaust it's not bad as that was one of the things I saw as a 'must have' as the sound of a 50 with stock exhaust was horrible to me. |
