I just got a new DVD recorder and it's a dream. But I want to start transferring my old videos to DVDs. What's the best way to do this?

hook the video up to one of the AV inputs...preferably one of the RGB ones if you can and record away Thumbs Up

But I want it to connect to the TV as well, as I want to see what's recording - I want to edit out the start and finish of the video, so I don't get all the crap. If I connect via RGB to the DVD will it come up on the TV on the same input? Also, is there a higher-quality method I can use, given that the VCR only has SCART?

you should be able to view the video on the telly just like you were pluggin a video camera into your VHS and watching it on the telly.

quality will depend on your video spec and what it outputs.
