Yes, it's Euan McGregor and Charley Boorman. I haven't seen the whole series yet, but the DVDs are supposedly very good.

You mean the past two years, surely?

They did it in 2004 and the series was aired at the end of 04, I got the first set of DVD's for christmas that year, with the new ones this year! Wink

Yes do. It is really good. You don't even need to have the remotest interest in bikes - my girlfriends family all watched it and loved it. It's more to do with world cultures and life experiences than two people on bikes. They are also helping Unicef, so they visit under-privileged kids in different countries.

But dont buy the book.It spoils the fun of the series by letting you know just how much of a corporate venture it was.Which is a shame
Love the series though Thumbs Up

It's been on freeview, sky three, but it all got a bit disjointed with me as I kept missing bits!
There are some good moments - recommended on balance -I think it might be easier to watch if you record and spin through some bits though.

I don't know if anyone else found this, but I enjoyed the book somewhat more than the TV series.

The TV series is a bit too edited and lacks the personal emotion of the book. The book also has a brilliant first chapter about why Mcgregor and Boorman are so nuts about bikes!

I disagree that it spoils the fun! Ewan Mcgregor spends much of the early part of the journey expressing his anger at the producers for making it to 'made for tv' like. And this is particularly emphasised in the book.

I have the extended edition DVD and its fantastic, I definitely recommend it. I bought it from CDWOW.com I think it was only about £13.

I have the book too, but I've only read the first two chapters lol

But considering it was his first time, and people sometimes get killed doing it, he was pretty lucky.

Look for a book called "Jupiters Travels". Similar idea, but with less commercialisation. Bloke just jumps on a hideous old britmonster and goes around the world, without minders, a support van or a film crew. Twice.

Best travel/bike book ever.

Type the name into google - there's a good webpage associated with the book.

finpos.
