Oxford do an expandable tank bag for £29.99

I have one, its £19.99 for the normal one, and a tenner more for the expandable.

Get it.

I have had one now for about 7 months and its been spot on, i have in on the bike 24/7 (it doesnt feel right without it now). It holds the g/f's work bag, top up of oil, top up of brake fluid, spare drink, spare gloves, all my tools on the side pockets, its water proof and comes with 100% waterproof covers with it.

Cant reccomend it enough mate Thumbs Up

If i remember rightly, ive told you all this a little while ago?

Its big enough for me to roll my spare bike jacket up, and fit in Thumbs Up

Still using my £6.99 Lidl one actually, It's done a full rally season plus shopping trips plus holding my handbag/chain & padlock/assorted other girlie things on rides and hasn't budged, broken or leaked yet (touch wood).

I can fit 3 lever arch files (foolscap) in it when it's expanded, with room left over.

Pity they only had them in the stores for about an hour really........ Rolling Eyes

I got this one for a tenner at the tail end show. I've easily managed to fit about 36 cans of beer in it with room left over and you can take the bottom off it to use as a backpack.

https://www.bikersuperstore.com/product.php/719/8//f3dc84d0af7fffa991b47012b7fe183f

Deffinately the best £10 i spent in a long while since its lasted 2 years of daily use up to now and shows no sign of damage. Best bet is keep your eyes open at bike shows for any bargains.

You bastard! I paid about £60 for my 'Sport' version of the same tankbag.

To be honest, I hardly ever use my tankbag. Good for taking heavy stuff (eg chain), but for everything else I use a backpack. And most heavy things will can be stuck on the pillion seat easily enough with the aid of some bungees or a cargo net. You cannot really leave the bike without taking the tankbag with you, you have to use the waterproof cover when it rains, it's a pain in the arse to take it off everytime you want to fill up with petrol, and it looks daft when you carry it away from the bike as most people wouldn't know what it is. And annoyingly, the map reader on mine is just slightly too small to fit an AA road atlas Mad

Unless you particularly need a tankbag, you should save your cash and get a normal backpack and a cargo net.

Have you considered a top box instead? Not trying to be awkward, but i just don't like tank bags, on account of not being able to crouch or see the dials Razz

If it turns out that a bag you buy is less than waterproof, try using nikwax waterproofing spray, it's absolutely fantastic. It's called tent&gear proof, and will keep it 99.9% waterproof. Even if whatever you buy is waterproof, i'd still reccomend it for the peace of mind.

I leave mine on my bike - No one can move it without setting the alarm off... and if hes only going to college im sure there is secure parking with camera's around somewhere? I know there is at my college Laughing

Er... No?

Nath wrote:

Yeah erm, you just lift it up slightly at the rider end (not the handlebars end) so your filling cap is visible. Put your gloves underneath it to wedge it upwards, fill up. Simple.

Not realy... Mine zips off and magically transforms into a rucksack Thumbs Up
