The new Wembley seems pretty cool, rather expensive though.

Some facts

-The Wembley Arch is 133m high, taller than the London Eye

-It weighs 1,650 tonnes and supports the 7,000-tonne roof

-On a clear evening, it can be seen from Canary Wharf, 13 miles away

-It is made of British steel, supplied by Corus

-It was initially worked on in Cleveland then transported south to be joined together

-The stadium will have 2,000 toilets - more than any other building in the world

-The 11-acre roof makes it the biggest stadium in the world with every seat under cover

-The total project cost was put at £757m - when work began

-The two giant screens are each the size of 60 standard TVs

-The legroom for each seat is more than in the old Royal Box

Looks good from the picture. I was in London last year when they were putting the arch up Thumbs Up

Ive been told its only going to be an 80k seater stadium. Think they could have made it at least 100k seater though. I mean some Spanish League teams stadiums are over 100k seater stadiums.

And if im right Old Trafford will soon be close to 80k seater as soon as they have finished off the corners they have started.

Agree with you there mate, Real Madrids Stadium is something like 120, 000 dont see the point in making it 80, 000. I'm sure theres a valid reason though. Not enough money probably.

Paying £750 million for a stadium i think an extra 20k seats shouldnt cost much more.

My mums other half is a joiner in Guernsey. He was working there for a big company who were re-vamping the court house. He was telling me that for every week that passes that its not finished on the date agreed they take £250k off the total cost.

Surely something like Wembely - being the 'capital' of football in this country should be something a bit special in my opinion. Not on par with league clubs.

I agree, 80,000 isnt exactly mega, especially for £800 million!

The millenium stadium in Cardiff holds 74,000 and cost £130million ?!

Madrid's ground, the Bernabéu, hold's about 80,000. You're probably thinking of Barcelona's ground (The Camp Nou) which holds almost 99,000, and I think is the biggest in Spain. There are a few bigger, there was one somewhere in South America that held about 120,000 but was deemed dangerous.

As above. Numbers are all very well, but, as anyone who's been to a big ground well tell you - do you really want to sit forty metres above the pitch and a hundred metres away from it? All you'd see is 22 match stick men running around! I think quality rather than quantity is the order. The facilities are supposed to be world class. You go to some Premier League grounds and they're pretty basic.

Why have you started playing? Razz

I suppose the Olympics is a waste of time too? After all Wembley did help secure it.

In terms of size and grandeur I think it should have went for being the biggest seated footie stadium in the world - 100K+. It is in the supposed home of football after all. By changing the angle of the stands and making them a little higher shouldn't compromise the view from the stands. Been to games all over Europe and apart from Paradise the greatest stadium I have been to is the Nou Camp. Which is the sort of ground that I am talking about. Must be an intimidating place to play - and England need all the help they can get Wink

Although shite from a running, jumping, prancing perspective, it gives people jobs and brings in some cash.

Still think the Reebok stadium is far superior to say something like old trafford!

28,879 capacity that makes more noise than 67,700 stuck inside Oldtrafford!

Excellent views, very good leg room. Apart from the Millenium stadium, Anfield and St Jame's park, nothing beats the Reebok
