Going a bit against the grain a bit, but if you find a better job prospect leave before the payout, yeah you won't get the money but if the pay is better, it will be like you never got made redundant at all. This happened with my Dad last week, he has been working at the factory for nigh on 25 years and was offered minimum redundancy pay, found a job that paid much more than his current on and ditched the redudancy, it's up to you, but imagine getting a payout then not finding a job for 6 months...

Thanks for all the advice.

According to the letter, the "new" company will be operational on May 1st. That gives me 6 weeks, and I'm on a 2 month notice period. I'm hoping that will mean I'll get 2 weeks garden leave.

My main worry is going out into the big bad world, when I haven't a clue what I want to do. I've lived and breathed what I do there for 3 and a half years, so I'm just anxious about what's next.

Fingers crossed it'll be ok.
