As per the title. If anyone here is looking for, or about to purchase a semi-pro dSLR it may be worth hanging on...

The Canon range has been pretty much overhauled over the last six months or so, with new models coming in all the way through the range. The only old model remaining is the EOS 20D. There are strong rumours flying around the 'net that a replacement model for the 20D will be announced next Monday/Tuesday at the PMA Show in the States. There seems to be a lot of belief about it being named the 35D with a 10 megapixel resolution and possibly greater framerate and more focus points. Sensor size etc to remain the same.

These are obviously rumours, but they are very strong. What will it hurt to wait a week anyway? Once it's announced I would expect to see the price of the 20D models drop as retailers try and clear stock. So, if you're about to buy a 20D - wait! You could get yourself a bargain, or an improved model.

Hi

Tend to agree, although how much the 20D will drop in price I am not sure (it has dropped dramatically over the past couple of months).

There are also strong rumours of a Canon EOS 3000D, a real cheap digital SLR. If true and with the 350D currently going for around £550 with a lense then the cheapy will probably be down around £400.

All the best

Keith

Since Nikon brought out their D200, prices of their previous model (D100) have dropped a bit.

I bought one this week and it's fantastic! Thumbs Up

Quality comes at a price, you're lucky they're not in RAW format! Wink

The Canon 1Ds mk2 is about 16mp, and you can set the level of jpeg compression to increase detail.

It is a £5k professional camera.

All the best
