Well, I've never witnessed an RS125 doing more than 100 miles without breaking down at some point. Don't let that put you off though
If you don't thrash it too much, and give it a good service before you go you should be fine. |

I used to commute from Manchester to Wolverhampton on my NSR 125. It was fine, infact, it was great!
I would advise that after a tankful of fuel, fill up and let the engine cool for a quick half hour. Saying that, on an RS, you may well be ready for a break anyway!
I would recommend break down cover, you never know what lies ahead! ____________________ "THOSE WHO RISK NOTHING, DO NOTHING, ACHIEVE NOTHING, BECOME NOTHING." |

You're going to want a stop-off anyhow I would imagine. It used to take me just over 4 hours from Huntly to Edinburgh on my Jawa 350 (65-70mph, but can do that up hills and into the wind too). Then it is another 2 hours or so down to Newcastle. If you aren't used to long journeys, you are going to be pretty knackered after six hours plus in the saddle on a 125cc bike
Assuming you are on L-plates, you won't be allowed to use the M90 like I did which means you have to go from Perth to Edinburgh some other way.
That said, there is no good reason the bike shouldn't get you there and back, just don't rag it. Find a decent cruising speed where the engine isn't labouring too much and stick to it. A 2-stroke will usually tell you if you need to back off a bit by getting a bit raggedy. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
