Seems alright to me! I paid £299 for it fitted, I believe it's down to £199 now.

Cat 1 means Thatcham Category 1 and 'it complies with The British Insurance Industry's Criteria For Motorcycle Security. Cert no. TMC1-150/1103', just a matter if your own insurance company recognises it?

Different insurance companies will give different discounts on insurance, some won't give any.

My view is that I'd only fit one if the insurance company insisted on it - ie wouldn't insure me without it.
They're a pain in the arse to use, cos they arm automatically when your ignition is turned off. They're unreliable, and since they include an immobiliser this means when it breaks you're going nowhere, they're virtually no deterrent against theft (pros use a tasar to fry the thing in microseconds, or heave your bike into a refrigerated van to soundproof the noise), and even if your insurance company gives a decent discount for having it it'll be years before you've saved enough to pay for the bloody thing, by which time you've probably changed bikes anyway.
