OE filters.

Worth the extra?

I've just ordered a set of Honda filters from David Silver but could have spent a damn site less.

Am i going to be gobsmacked at the huge performance increase? Confused

Hi

Difficult to say. By the time you have found out there is a fair chance the rest of the bike will be worn out. On the other hand I have been shocked by OE prices before when I found M&P were selling Kawasaki oil filters for less than the cheap pattern ones for the same bike.

Generally I use pattern ones.

All the best

Keith

I bet you'll find no difference at all. It annoys me, the way japanese consumables are so overpriced. I ride a Ducati, and genuine consumables are cheaper than pattern parts - genuine oil filters are £4.50 .

I had it dyno'd a few weeks back. I might go give it another run and see what difference there is. Only done a couple of hundred miles and not made any other changes so should be an interesting test.

Hi

Doubt you will get any performance difference at all from changing oil filters (and from an air filter the difference is likely to be small at best).

All the best

Keith

I use K&N oil filters, not for any performance reasons, but purely because they have a bolt on the end so you can unscrew them using a spanner. Saves hammering a srewdriver through them to get them off.

I run pattern mostly.

Pattern oil filters i buy are often Lucas and pretty reputable anyhow.

As for air filters im running S&B individuals, and they seem to keep the crap out.
