Beginner Track Days

A couple a months ago i remember reading something about track days where you can hire the bikes and equipment for the day and pay and insurance premium so if you crash the bike the insurance covers it rather than you losing any deposit you sometimes have to put down.

Does anyone know of such a company?

Sounds like you would want to be looking at something like Ron Haslams race school. Although to be honest I'm not sure what the deal with crashing one of their bikes is.

Their not cheap either.

Basically, no.

Ron haslem I think only charges £10 or £20 or so if you crash.

However when you consider the amount of track time you get, to get the same amount as at a track day you would have to spend twice as much, meaning you're paying around what you would if you went to a track day, hired a bike, crashed and wrote off the hire bike totally.

First thing is, why do you think you're going to crash? Get quicker slowly and there shouldn't a problem. I'd be much more worried about crashing on the way to the trackday - where there are cars, pot holes, white lines and all sorts of other nasty hazards to contend with Smile

Its not that im worried about crashing, its just the fact that it will be my first time and i will be going a lot faster than on any road? How many people crahed here on their first time?

What sort of costs would it be for a track day, and hire of bike etc?

I wouldn't be too worried about crashing on your first time. You just need to remember you are not racing, it's just a trackday.

As G said start off slowly and work your way up. Have a read of the trackday FAQ at the top of this section then book yourself into a novice session.

Typically hire bikes appear to be around the £200 mark for the day, then you will also need to pay for the track day which depends on the operator and the track.. (e.g. Brands Hatch is more expensive than Lydden)

I assume you've got a full licence, you would need to supply your own leathers (which need to be 1pc or 2pc which zip together) and a lid.

Have you not got a bike you can use?
