To steal the largest amount of money in history without getting anyone physically harmed is quite an acheivement.

Obviously some people (the 8 odd year old kid) would have been mentally harmed, but am I the only one that has a smirk of admiration?!

I don't see how they can get away with it. I was watching it on the news last night, and some american guy was saying how, even if all the notes were 50's, that's still 800,000 pieces of paper they have, and would weigh around 900 pounds. Also, if they try an get out of the UK with a truck full of cash, that means crossing borders, which means they're going to have to try and get into one of the very few countries that will allow them to take that amount of money without asking any questions. By taking so much, they've made it so much harder for themselves to get away with it.

It's like something out of the movies!

its true it is a huge amount in size and also value to be moving, but i guess if its planned out, as well as the media portrays it, there is a possibility to get away with it, drug barons seem to get away with moving their wares and i would hazard a guess they are successful otherwise they would not be doing it, i wonder what amount is actually seized in the grand scheme of things........ i dont think anyone actually knows and would ever find out.

It was obviously planned very well, i heard on the news this morning that by the time the police were contacted the robbers could already be out of the country.

I also have a lot of admiration for them, takes some guts/brains to do something like that but at the same time they are probably the most wanted criminals in the country now.

Rich and Famous, can't be bad. Laughing

TBH I think the law makes out this sort of thing is close to impossible but I can imagine if you put your heart and soul into a plan like this for how ever long it took, you could pretty much do anything.
The cops aren’t all that special, as we already know, and defiantly in this case it seems, they took that place’s security for granted.

Apparently 3 people have now been arrested. They went to a bank and tried to open a new account with 6k cash. Trouble was the bank wrappers were still on the notes.

They obviously weren't the brains behind the operation. Laughing

Spot on Katie! Typical thieves, far too greedy. Couple of hundred thou for the mortgage - no problem, 6 million between 12 people - a struggle but no unacheivable. To steal nigh on 50 million, in notes not electronically, seems totally ludicrous. The only people that get away with that are the governments that run third world countries and that gordon brown wanker.

'Thick as thieves' may be true here, but you still have to tip your hat (not morally because stealing is bad mmkay) to the execution of such a plot. Just glad it aint my 50 mil.

Followed by....

'What where you doing at the time of the theft sir?'

'erm... running a bath'.

yes mr garrison Cool

but still, theres no way the government would let a theft on such a large scale go none at all. it's damaging for the country, lack of security and all that. MI5 has probably been put on the case, such a large amount they'll get caught, its just a matter of time.....
