Hi all, not only am i fairly new to biking I am also new to these forum things. have read a few of the articles and found them of interest.
Am 40 yr old, 15 stone of latent muscle with 2o years of car driving experience.
Spent about 3 years riding scooter (Yam Maxster), then went to the dark side.
I passed my test back in October on my Varadero 125, i nver had the confidence nor the money to go direct access. In hindsight i wish i had, so now I'm restricted fro 2 years and am frustrated as to which bike to move up to.
I was really keen on the Kwak KLE500 nut advised against this, the 600s' have all this BHP and it seems daft to restrict back.
Any advice on which way to go.

PS i like the Varadero very much

Restricting the bike mean's de-restriction will seem like having a new bike, two bike's for the price of one almost.

Also try some bike's and get the one you feel most comfortable on. The KLE500 will be useless at going round racetracks and wont do 160mph, but it may be the bike you prefer to ride.

Purley use bike for commute to work, so doing 160 on racetrack is of no interest to me.
Looking at bikes in showroom proves difficult as going for test ride is impossible unless bike your interested in is restricted.
Do'nt you need certificate of restriction for insurance?

In which case get the bike you like the look and feel of the best/can get the best deal on depending on your budget.

No. You need proof of restriction. If you get a kit supplied by a manufacturer or third parties, such as https://www.fiinternational.com/Restrictors.asp then they will come with a "certificate". A dyno read out can also be used to proove that your bike make's the necessary amount of power, having it restricted in whichever way you see fit.

There is no law that you must have a certificate, just that you must have it restricted. The "proof" will only be asked for by an insurance company in the event of a claim.

This is as I understand the situation.
