Anyone know how to weigh stuff without scales. As you can guess I dont have any scales.

How much flour does it take to fill an average mug?

Seeing as you don't have scales, it takes roughly one mug full of flour to fill an average mug. Thumbs Up

As for pancakes, I like apples, lemon juice and sugar. With a chocolate one for afters.

I'll give it a bash. Not too sure if you're telling the truth though.

Just for the record I do have scales at home but not at Uni. I'm not a skank Razz

Real men don't use scales Smile

I measure fluids by eye using 'coke cans' to quantify how much I'm measuring (Looks about half a coke can - 160ml) etc

also love Kaiserschamchen! It's great served with warm cranberries. I've just found this basic recipe but have not tried it yet:

Serves 4:
100g plain flour
50 g caster sugar
4 eggs
125ml milk
a handfull of sultanas
powder sugar (if you wish)

Beat the egg whites to a firme texture.
Mix the egg yolks with the caster sugar, the milk and the flour.
Mix the 2 preparations together
Put the mixture in a pre-heated pan and add the sultanas.
When the mixture is starting to look a bit firmer, cut rough pieces of kaiserschmachen and let it cook for another 5 to 10 minutes while turning the pieces over on a regular basis (so it does not catch).
For serving, put on a serving plate with some cranberry jam, red fruits jam or apricot jam. You may add a little powder sugar if you wish for the sweetness or for decoration purposes.

I had ice cream and pineapple in one once, that ws nice. Little Chef do black cherries and cream in them...
I can't make them without them sticking, or if they don't stick, they get drowned oil or get crunchy. My sister once made a really thick one, it was black on the outside and runny in the middle. Any tips do o them without sticking?
Oh, and when actually is pancake day???

I made pancakes with my Guides last night at our meeting.

I mixed up pancake mixture and put it into an empty milk bottle for safe transportation and stuck it in the fridge... an hour later my Dad makes three mugs of coffee. Somehow he hadn't noticed that he'd put pancake mixture in our coffee! EUGH! Sick

I took my Trangia in to the hut and got it lit.
Off they went, taking it in turns to make a pancake.

Four successful pancakes made, looking yummy.

Then it's Megan's go. She leaves the butter melting in the pan a fraction too long, the flame looks like it's giving up then WOOOMPH!

BIG FIRE!

The pancake was charcoal...
The hall was full of smoke...

But, a life lesson taught to those girls - how to put out a fire and destroy a towel. Very Happy

I didn't have pancakes last night. I was out until late doing loads of paperwork. Crying or Very sad

I will have them today instead me think!

Nice and traditional with just sugar and lot and lots of lemon juice.

Did anyone notice a lack of "Don't forget the Jif Lemon..." adverts this year? They are what reminds me! Laughing
