Right, er I'm planning on doing my house up a bit and have decided to try to link up my stereo and my tv to my PC.
I was wondering what sort of wiring would I need or could I do it with this wireless network thingy.
Sorry for being a bit vague. I'm a bit clueless when it comes to this sort of thing. Embarassed

if you want your PC's sound coming out of your stereo and your PCs video displayed on your telly then it depends on what components you have.

at the basic level you can use standard audio cable with a 3.5mm stereo plug on one end that connects to your soundcards lineout and the other end will likely need 2 phono plugs to connect to the stereo.

your PC will need to have a VGA card with a TV-out connector or your TV will need to have a VGA/DVI connector. just buy the relevant cable type for that and you'll probably have to enable the TV-out in your display properties.

you could maybe do the video wirelessly using a video sender but this will rely on you using a TV-out and not the VGA/DVI route.

not sure about doing the audio wirelessly though.

Easiest way to connect your pc to tv is via s-video. You can probably pick up a graphics card with s-video output for next to nothing, then you plug the s-video into your tv.

If you don't have s-video in on your tv then just use a scart adapter or phono adapters. You can do the whole setup with graphics card for about £20-£25 Thumbs Up

But remember, S-Video only does video, it doesn't do sound. I've done a quick drawing of what I think you're after:

You need to let us know what you've got mate. Things we could use knowing are:

1. What kind of TV have you got, and does it support:

> Analog In (Just the yellow bit)
> VGA In
> DVI In

2. What do you use for sound for your TV?
> TV Speakers
> 5.1 or Surround Sound set
> Do you have an amp?

3. What output's does your video board on your PC have?
> Analog Out (Just the yellow bit)
> VGA Out
> HDMI Out
> DVI Out

Standard audio leads (3.5mm or phono) only transmit analogue mono/stereo sound.

If you have an amp with 5.1 speaker setup, and you want the Dolby Digital or DTS soundtrack of dvd's played on your PC to be transferred to the amp, you'll need a sound-card (or motherboard with on board audio) with a digital out. This can be in the form of an optical or S/PDIF connection.

A digital connection will also improve the audio quality of stereo sound such as MP3's CD's ect...
