Folks

I received a letter yesterday from a company called Telogram.

It stated this.

Dear Mr Proctor

We are currently holding a message for you under reference number XXXXXXX

To retrieve this message please call xxxx xxxxxx

Now, I've done a search on google for Telogram and have found that they're the first line in a debt recovery system, which is all well and good, but, I don't oweanyone anything. And I mean, anyone, I paid all my debts off after my Gran died and left me her house.

The only things I have outstanding are my student loan, which currently goes out via Direct Debit and a small amount on one credit card. Which I pay off.

So, has anyone else had a letter like this? I'm starting to wonder whether someone else has started something in my name or something else sinister.

Anyone got any advice?
AP

According to various threads I've found on the web calling them starts a chain of events that means a barrage of letters and phone calls, which I'd rather not get if there's nothing to do with me anyway.

I may just ring them to try and find out anyway.

Phone them but withhold your phone number and dont give away any info (ie: key in any ref: numbers into the phone) until you speak to someone.

Thumbs Up

I'd send them a letter rather than calling.

If they are the first line in a debt recovery system then you want stuff to be in writing rather than having conversations about it with call centre people staff who won't be solicitors and won't really know what they're advising you about.

Can't be very important IMO, if it was then they'd have told you what was in this message instead of just telling you about its existence.

This explains quite a bit!

https://www.capquest.tk/

However, the one thing that is bothering me, is where the debt is from. Like I said, I have none, which is why I'm wondering about calling the number anyway to see if I can get a little bit further down the line to knowing where its from.

If someone else has done something in my name I'd sooner know now rather than later.
