Work VPN

Work has set up a VPN on my home pc so i can access emails. The question is, does all my net traffic go through their VPN, or is it a parallel connection that only serves emails?

The only investigation I’ve managed to do so far is the download speeds. I get 451KBS with the VPN off and 80-120KBS with the VPN on.

Slightly worried as I look at meatspin a lot and I can see my self visiting mudfall a lot....

Hi

I'm assuming your using Windows XP, have a look at the VPN connection properties, then click on the following:

Networking Tab -> Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) (click on properties) -> Advanced...

In there is a check box which reads "Use default gateway on remote network"

Get rid of the tick and OK all the way out. This should mean that internet bound traffic goes out of your own connection, whereas traffic directed to your work network should just be work related.

Just been sat here having a poke. Normal connection had 468/467/468 Kbps, while the VPN had 199/193/174 Kbps.

Follow your instructions and with the VPN running it kicks out 467 Kbps again.
