I passed my test today

and I would like some suggestions on my first bike.

i was thinking about a Honda NC35 RVF but now i'm toying with the idea of a 600. which one would you advise i go for?

If you can afford a bigger bike then go for one, as long as you dont ride it like a knob you will be fine imo Very Happy

you can pick up gixxer 600's nice and cheap, they have a big following so lots of parts/advice/support etc if anything goes wrong.

Good stuff my son !!! i wish i was as lucky as some, or perhaps as skilled a rider? but were not here to debate that are we!. gixxers r nice but it really depends what kinda of bike you want to get at the end of the day, be it sports,touring, .. why dont you get a scooter? or even better yet a nova 1.2 and a burburry cap , god i have written nova1.2 and burburry too many times today and thats just when im signing people on to the dole Razz

Go for zxr400 or your nc35. If you do chose a 600 make it an R6

Personally, I think the 35 is over priced, not offering anything over the other 400s, apart from being able to show off that you've got an expensive bike, of course.

Are you on a restricted licence, will you keep restrictors in?
What sort of riding are you wanting to be doing?

where did you pass? i passed in october and my first bike is a CBR 600f
1995 and I find it awesome. only thing is we havent passed in the best time of year weather wise Sad

Whats your price range??? I'd definately go for a 600 it'll save looking for one later on when you get bored of a 400.

I went for a 600 Fazer after passing my test. upgraded a year later to a thundercat. To be honest, if I had ridden the thundercat first, would have gone for that,, not much differenec in power size etc, in fact, i found it easier to ride than the fazer.

iIve now upgraded to a ZX6r, which is total different animal, and the thundercat is still up for sale.

I reckon you shd try out a few bikes to decide what you like and get some online insurance quotes from www.ebikeinsurance.co.uk. I passed recently too. I probably should have tried some 400's as I wanted something that handles well and wasnt too bothered about having a lot of power.

The thing was for me that insurance wasnt much more for a 600 (but I am 30) and I could get a much newer, lower mileage 600 for the price of a decent 400.

400's havent been made for a while so a lot are quite old and will have things go wrong with them. Low mileage ones are rare now so people ask quite a lot for them.

I'm going for a ZXR400 for when I pass my test, already got one in the pipeline. Laughing

Ride magazine voted the ZXR400 the best sports 400 in their last issue so if you do decide on a 400, the ZXR has had a lot of good things said about it, and can be easier to repair than the Hondas.

(Just make sure that if you do like the sound of the ZXR400, that you don't go taking the one I've got my eyes on. Laughing
