afternoon all... real newbie here just look for advice.

so ive decided to get a bike... but i havent got any experience what so ever.

got a couple of quid saved up and really need my own mode of transport for getting around london. it is totally illogical (sp?) for me to get a car as i will be in and out of the mighty 'C' practicly everyday.

i wont JUST be using it to commute. as im looking for something fun on the weekend.

im 21, average height (5'9) and average build (11 and half stone)

im trying to be quite sensible. looking for a restricted bike which i can get to grips with the basics on, and when im ready to get that extra bit of power it will be noticable when i de-restrict it.

i DO want a pretty bike though... as i do try to look like a flash bastard now and again. Laughing

ive got about 2 grand but could stretch it to 3 grand if i waited a month or so.

ive been thinking of getting a sports 400, but the only real options seam to be the ZX4R,VFR and the RVF???? all of which i find rather attractive! any other models worth checking out?

the main question is could this realisticly be a sensible option for someone who has literally no experience on a bike? am i jumping in too deep?

thanks in advance...

Cyril

I know it is not what you were thinking of but I reckon one of the big street motos would be ideal.

They are probably the ultimate thing (other than a C90) for getting round town quickly and safely. You can also nip out of town and leave your brain at home for the weekend while you thrash the nuts off it round some twisties.

Stuff like the MZ mastiff or the Yamaha equivalent (XT660X). KTM if you are a poser (although the KTM Duke is a bit pricier and maybe not quite so user friendly..they bite back).
